Girls’ Generation’s Jessica will once again show off her cute yet elegant looks and charms in another magazine photoshoot.
Jessica transformed into a “spring queen” for an upcoming issue of a celebrity lifestyle magazine, @star1, which will be published on April 21st.
During the photoshoot, which took place on a tree-lined street that gave off the feeling of spring, Jessica looked at the falling spring rain and said, “I’m happy it’s raining. I like the rain. It’s a bit boring having to shoot by myself without my members, but it’s fun.”
Through the @star1 photoshoot, Jessica showed the both beautiful charm of a girl and the beautiful charm of a woman by wearing sensible clothes from the “COMING STEP” fashion brand. She showed a polished look by wearing an animal-print jumpsuit with a clean white jacket, and completed her lovely look by having her wavy hair falling naturally to one side and wearing pink blush.
Jessica’s photoshoot and honest interview will be released on April 21st in @star1′s May issue.
Girls’ Generation’s subunit “Girls’ Generation–TaeTiSeo” will release their first mini-album “Twinkle” in the near future.
The first incarnation of Girls’ Generation’s new subunit project, Girls’ Generation–TaeTiSeo is comprised of the amazing vocals of Taeyeon, Tiffany, and Seohyun. “Twinkle” is expected to be released on May 2nd, and listeners can look forward to the rich music and attractive vocals that will be featured.
SM Entertainment officially announced the creation of this new subunit on April 19th. They said in a statement, “Girls’ Generation’s subunit will feature the various talents of each Girls’ Generation member by changing the members of the unit according to the music and concept of each new subunit album. This subunit will aim to grab the attention of fans with all aspects of music, performance, and fashion styles.”
Lee’s PR, a research company, revealed on April 18th that Girls’ Generation was the most popular female singer in the first half of 2012. 1,329 people voted in the poll, awarding Girls’ Generation 26.9% of the vote. Girls’ Generation beat IU, Wonder Girls, Baek Jiyoung, Lee Hyori and Miss A to the top female singer spot. Other than a slight slip in late 2011 where they fell down to number two, Girls’ Generation have held the number one spot in the “Female Singer” part of the poll since 2009.
The poll results come as Girls’ Generation’s popularity is soaring both in South Korea and worldwide. Their 2nd Asia Tour received international love, but their popularity is not just limited to Asia. The girls travelled to New York to film for “Late Show with David Letterman” and “Live with Kelly”, and also held a fansign event during their visit. The girls then attended “Music Bank in Paris”, further extending their popularity into Europe. Although Girls’ Generation did not promote much in Korea in the first half of 2012, their global activities have made their fanbase even larger, truly making them deserving of the title of “Most Popular Female Singer” of the first half of 2012.
Yes, I'm having a coffee for my birthday. But feel free to keep looking at my gorgeousness.
Singing may be her usual occupation, but it’s not the only thing that defines her. Officially, she is also a dancer, actress, TV star, model, and all-around entertainer. But when she’s not on one of her many jobs, even more of Jessica Jung’s characteristics come out. She can be so shy that it looks like she’s disinterested, or she can be just as hyper as the other girls. No matter what personality Jessica takes on at any given time, just like Girls’ Generation isn’t complete without all nine girls, Jessica Jung is not complete without all of her lovable traits.
Having model looks is another one of my talents too.
Jessica obviously is most known for her gorgeous voice. Of course, this is expected from a main singer of the most successful girl group in South Korea, if not the world. Jessica’s high voice and wide vocal range beautifully add to any song she sings, and her trademark wails are always impressive. Even when just talking about her singing, Jessica is multi-talented, as she can take on many different genres, styles, groupings, and languages. She’s always featured no matter what piece she participates in, whether it’s the popular dance songs the girls are famous for, or the ballads the girls produce to slow things down. Jessica has contributed to the OSTs of “Romance Town” and “Wild Romance”, and she’s participated in duets or sung songs solo. In addition, who can forget her giving her all to a silly piece like “Naengmyun”?
Jessica loves "Naengmyun" so much that she wants to keep it to herself.
Of course, Jessica has to dance along to many of these songs just like the other girls. While she may not always be spot-on, she tries her best each time, and concentrates no matter if it’s an actual performance or a rehearsal, or even if she’s just going through the moves one more time before having to perform them. However, Jessica doesn’t just dance because it’s required for the job. Jessica has professed her love of dancing before. In fact, she loves dancing so much that she’s mentioned that any potential love interest must like dancing as well. And while Jessica is known for her singing, it may surprise you that when the members of Girls’ Generation were first being introduced as part of SM’s new girl group, Jessica’s teaser included a video of her dancing:
There’s no question that watching Jessica dance is entertaining. But she definitely knows how to maintain our interest in other ways as well. Even though she previously had minimal live theater experience, she was able to take the lead role in “Legally Blonde”, acting as well as singing in front of a live audience multiple times. She’s also taken her turn acting on the small screen, recently completing her role as Kang Jonghee on the KBS 2TV drama “Wild Romance”. (What wasn’t entertaining, though, was her kiss scene. That was heartbreaking. Until the cat came along. Go cat.)
Jessica as the always beautiful though sometimes bipolar Kang Jonghee.
Another thing that Jessica takes quite earnestly is her modeling. She’s posed for many magazine photoshoots, including for “Dazed and Confused”, “Marie Claire”, “1st Look”, and “W”, and all of these in just this past year. She models clothes for Coming Step. She’s even walked down the fashion runway at Seoul Fashion Week last year, and each time Jessica works as a model, she looks as gorgeous as ever. Many models are required to have a serious look while on the job, and Jessica is no exception. She’s famous for looking serious when she’s not officially doing anything as well, though it has been said before that that’s because she can be quite shy. Sometimes, this can even morph into disinterest or sleepiness. Nevertheless, the nickname “Ice Princess” is well-deserved based solely on her perceived demeanor.
I am an Ice Princess. Bow down to me.
However, anybody who has gotten to know Jessica says that she is quite warm and caring, with Yuri once referring to her as “warm ice”. She watches over her little sister Krystal, constantly giving her tips on how to succeed as a singer and always cheering her on. She can also go to the opposite extreme of her famous nickname, being cute or hyper like the rest of the girls. Many times, she goes one step further, and becomes a bully or becomes violent, though of course it’s always in a playful way.
Get over here and let me kiss your squishy face.
A cute and hyper Jessica may seem like a contradiction when compared to a serious and sleepy Jessica. On the surface, perhaps this is true. However, with Jessica Jung, this is not the case. This is merely Jessica being Jessica, and each of her many characteristics and talents add up to this wonderful, talented, and loveable person whom we all adore. She’s grown from the cute teenage girl we first got to know almost five years ago, into a beautiful young woman whom we can’t get enough of. But her talents and personality have remained the same, and there’s no reason that even though she’s becoming one year older today, they won’t continue to do so, giving us reason to love her even more.
In celebration of her 23rd birthday,(Editor’s note: Jessica is 23 according to her Western age and 24 according to her Korean age)fans of Girls’ Generation gave Jessica a very special gift by placing an advertisement in a newspaper.
Jessica has the nickname “Ice Princess” because of her usually cold facial expression. However, she is known to receive lots of love from her fans because of her lively and gentle personality, while also having fun and laughing with her fans. Jessica is currently taking a short break from activities after completing her first acting attempt in the KBS 2TV drama, “Wild Romance”.
The newspaper advertisement contained both a poem and a short message, which read:
When the teary snowflakes were spreading In our hearts full of compassion A snow-white ice princess With her passionate heart, With her sweet lips, Let the flowers of love blossom Filling our hearts full of happiness.
Happy Birthday ♥Jessica♥
We celebrate Girls’ Generation’s Ice Princess’ 24th birthday ♥
Please take care of us in the future too!
We are happy SONEs cheering her on whenever and wherever.
[SONE Oath] We will love you until our hearts become blocks of ice.
Fans of Girls’ Generation on Twitter also took time to celebrate Jessica’s birthday, as “#IcePrincessDay” and #HappyJungJessicaDay” both trended in first place on Twitter’s worldwide trending list. “Happy Birthday Jessica Jung” also trended in second place.

Have I…changed?
The 7 years I spent as a trainee swept by like a panorama
I’ve been called Sunny more times in the past 4 years than I’ve been called Soonkyu in 20 years! I’m happiest when I’m on stage
Always doing my best is my concept
I cried a lot because I didn’t like my audition performance
I did fall a lot, but in the end, I don’t give up
Girls’ Generation’s Sooyoung is a hard worker. Choi Sooyoung is an ordinary youngest daughter who likes to play
The Yoona inside the TV hides a lot of things
It was difficult going down a different road from my friends
Ace Bed updated their official website on April 16th with a post on Girls’ Generation’s thoughts on filming Ace Bed’s CFs, which wererecently released.
“‘The bed is not a piece of furniture~ Have a good sleep~’
We sang this song over and over again the whole time we were filming, so it’s still stuck in our heads. I think we had a fun and comfortable CF film shoot thanks to the fun CM (commercial music) song and how nicely Lee Sun Gyun sunbaenim treated us.
It felt like a pajama party, because it was a bed CF. The concept itself was about being natural, so the only thing I really remember from the film shoot was playing around and chatting away with the members. Before we knew it, the film shoot was over.
I lied down on the bed to shoot a sleeping scene, and I actually dozed off. This is what ‘the ability to let them sleep deeply even if they take a quick nap’ means.
Since our lifestyle changes so often due to all the schedules we have to cover, we always thought, ‘I’m tired. I should sleep.’ Now we realize that it’s not just ‘I should sleep,’ but that ‘I should sleep deeply.’
And so, we all changed our beds to Ace Beds. What happens if we get prettier after sleeping on Ace Beds?
Have a healthy deep sleep on Ace Beds. A bed is not a piece of furniture, but a science.”
