Girls’ Generation to Perform ‘PAPARAZZI’ on ‘Music Station’

Girls’ Generation is set to perform on TV Asahi’s “Music Station” on June 22nd, following the release of their music videos for “PAPARAZZI” on June 15th. The official release for this Japanese single will be on June 27th. This is not the first time Girls’ Generation will be performing on “Music Station”, with the last time being for the Japanese promotion of “MR. TAXI”.

Girls’ Generation has always amazed viewers with their synchronized dancing and powerful vocals on “Music Station”, so anticipation is running high for this performance since the choreography for “PAPARAZZI” is quite challenging compared to some of their previous singles. Other artists who will be performing are Linkin Park, Kat-tun, Maeda Atsuko from AKB48, and Kuwata Keisuke.

Girls’ Generation will also be performing at SMTOWN Live World Tour III in Tokyo on August 4th and 5th at the Tokyo Dome.

Girls’ Generation – TTS to Conclude Promotions For ‘Twinkle’

Girls’ Generation’s first subunit group, Girls’ Generation – TTS, will be completing their month-long promotion cycle on a high note by setting an unprecedented record.

On April 30th, the subunit group Girls’ Generation – TTS was created with members Taeyeon, Tiffany and Seohyun and their title song “Twinkle”. For every stage, Girls’ Generation – TTS have put on cute and confident performances, but will be ending their month-long promotions on SBS’s “Inkigayo” on June 3rd.

As the first subunit group to come out of Girls’ Generation, they have garnered much attention since the beginning. The simple name of “TaeTiSeo” also stuck to the general public easily and showed off Girls’ Generation’s presence.

Is that the reason? They were different from the moment they appeared. Girls’ Generation – TTS released their songs not only in Korea, but also overseas simultaneously. As soon as “Twinkle” was revealed, it ranked fourth on the US iTunes album chart. This is the greatest record set by a Korean artist and also a first for a subunit group.

They also set another new record by ranking in second on the US iTunes pop album chart right behind Adele, a famous English pop star. Furthermore, they also had their names listed on the higher ends of album charts in Japan, Canada, Australia, England, Spain, and other countries.

There was no exception in Korea. As soon as “Twinkle” went on sale, it took the number one spot on several Korean music sites, such as MelOn and Naver Music.

Once Girls’ Generation – TTS’s official promotions began, there was a strong positive response both online and offline. With their key dance move where they wiggle their fingers under their chins, unwavering singing, and their doll-like looks, the girls received fervent support from fans.

This was quickly seen through music show rankings. Girls’ Generation – TTS clinched first place with “Twinkle” for three weeks on SBS’s “Inkigayo”, KBS’s “Music Bank”, Mnet’s “MCountdown”, and MBC’s “Show Champion”. While there have been many subunit groups from other idol groups before, this was the first time any has gained a triple crown on every single music program on each broadcasting station.

Girls’ Generation – TTS, who admitted their legs were shaking during their first performance, said, “Girls’ Generation’s charismatic choreography was important, but I think we can put more emphasis on our singing through this promotion cycle. The company also supported us, and other members joked about being jealous too.”

As a result of the success that Girls’ Generation – TTS showed as the first subunit group, it doesn’t seem impossible for more and different subunits to come out of Girls’ Generation.

For their last week of promotions, there will be special appearances by other members of Girls’ Generation. Sooyoung will perform “OMG” with Girls’ Generation – TTS on MBC’s “Music Core”, and Hyoyeon will perform the same song with Girls’ Generation – TTS on SBS’s “Inkigayo”.

Hyoyeon Impresses with Her Work Ethic on ‘Dancing with the Stars 2′

As Girls’ Generation’s Hyoyeon continues to improve each and every week on “Dancing with the Stars 2″, viewers and the staff of the show have taken notice of her hard-working attitude and determined mindset. After only placing sixth with their very first performance on the reality dancing competition, Hyoyeon and her partner, Kim Hyungsuk, have since worked their way to the top and even won first place on the show’s third episode.

Hyoyeon has now become known as a “practice bug” for her constant practice in preparation for her performances. The reason why Hyoyeon’s challenge on “Dancing With the Stars 2″ is so moving is because the way she takes on the program is like no other. Of course, the other contestants’ effort at attempting sports-dancing on “Dancing With the Stars” always garners attention, but because she is an idol, Hyoyeon is watched with colder eyes and is more strictly judged.

Nonetheless, Hyoyeon has risen to the challenge and thrived, displaying both her dancing talents and charms while impressing the show’s staff with her work ethic. In an interview with Osen, the producer of “Dancing with the Stars 2″ revealed, “Hyoyeon is a person who changed my perception of idols. She’s working hard despite her ridiculous schedule. It made me think, ‘They are Girls’ Generation because they work so hard.’ (Translator’s note: the producer is saying that Hyoyeon lives up to Girls’ Generation’s reputation for always working hard.) Not only is she good at dancing, but she really is respectful to her seniors and livens up the atmosphere on the set.”

“Dancing with the Stars 2″ has provided Hyoyeon with the opportunity to show off her charms and hidden talents. With her hard work and a little luck, she will hopefully continue to impress for months to come.

Yuri Interviewed by ‘Sports Chosun’

Yuri took part in an interview for “Sports Chosun” in which she talked about her experiences with working on her drama, “Fashion King”.

With endless support from oppa and samchon fans alike, being known as Yuri, a member of Girls’ Generation, would have been enough. However, she decided that she would not stick with that popularity alone.

Showing off her lively charm and fresh appeal, Yuri of Girls’ Generation transformed into Kwon Yuri, the actress, with a smile.

SBS’s “Fashion King” ended on the May 22^nd. She was young and still new to acting, but Yuri never let herself become discouraged by the greater skill of her co-actors, performing her part without a word about it. As this was her first attempt at acting, her expectations were initially low. Even so, as she slowly took baby steps, her presence as an actress began to shine.

“At first, I felt all sorts of regrets. What was I thinking when I took on this character that was beyond my capabilities? I felt that I got greedy, and that I was too eager to show to people a character who is the opposite of Girls’ Generation’s Yuri. There are advantages to being Girls’ Generation’s Yuri though, and since this was my first drama, I was careful to show that this was her breakthrough as much as actress Kwon Yuri’s.”

We met Yuri on the 21^st filming set for “Fashion King”, at SBS Ilsan Production Center. There, she talked to us about her thoughts on the drama. “’Fashion King’ is really meaningful to me. I suffered from insomnia when work on the drama began, and throughout filming my face and hands would get hot and sweaty. Although it was agonizing and painful, the drama was something I sincerely wanted to work on. Because of that, I was still happy.”

In “Fashion King”, Yuri acts as Choi Anna, who is in some ways the character that you feel the most sympathy for. As she keeps bumping into unfortunate situations, both her love life and her work always seem to fall short. “You can’t feel a hundred-percent of sympathy for Choi Anna, but I think she is a very realistic character. Every woman must have felt similar feelings before, since there aren’t many people with the natural ability to adapt. Behind a fashion designer’s luxurious background, I feel that there is also a hidden side, which I think is similar to me. I may be a member of Girls’ Generation who entertains on stage, but in the end I am still just a person. In some parts of the drama, Choi Anna does a few stupid things and often gets angry. I realized that I felt sorry for her because of that.”

The Korean audience responded well to her confident acting. “I went to a department store with my mom for the first time before filming started. Usually, I would hear people say to me, ‘I’m a Girls’ Generation fan. I love your songs!’ But on that day, rather than hearing that, they were instead saying, ‘Yuri, why are you so depressed? Why won’t you laugh?’ and ‘She usually has a bright personality. If she’s being so depressed, then did she fail to succeed?’ But even if what I hear are only worries, I am still thankful when I listen to people who are concerned about me.”

“I want to be an actress who can act in a wide variety of genres. I didn’t think that I could discover Anna’s character, but now that I have, I believe that in the future I will be able to bring out more personalities from inside of me. Because I enjoy exercise, the genre that I want to do the most is action.”

Yuri also managed to make friends with the other actors despite being new to the acting scene. “When Yoo Ah-in oppa wanted to express his character, he did it by living and breathing it, to the point that even the other actors became inspired by his passion. In Lee Jaehoon oppa’s scenes, he doesn’t act as himself, but as his drama persona, Jung Jaehyuk. When I watched one of his movies called ‘An Introduction to Architecture’, he never once faltered in his role as Seungmin. He is always immersed in his acting. Shin Sekyung may be younger than me but she can be very sensitive when expressing her emotions. Whenever I watch her, I find a lot of moments when I think that she really is a true actress.”

Yuri’s drama, “Fashion King”, failed to obtain satisfactory ratings, but in spite of that, Yuri has shown hard work along with a devoted will to act. “In the future, I will make sure to commit to my work so that I am able to meet the public’s expectations.”

Yoona Voted by Netizens As Idol Who Reminds Them of Their First Love

With her soft features, charming smile, and beautiful looks, Yoona handily came out on top in a recent polling of idols netizens found to remind them of their first love.

With the poll held from May 22nd to the 29th on DC Inside, Yoona placed first with 6,278 votes, roughly 42.7% of the total 14,711 votes cast. Many attributed her participating in the popular drama “Love Rain” as being a deciding factor for her large margin of victory, in addition to her aforementioned charm. Coming in second after Yoona was Han Hyo Joo with 4,219 votes (28.7%), and Han Ji Min with 1,271 votes (8.6%) came in third. Other idols listed included Moon Geun Young, miss A’s Suzy and Han Ga In.

Yoona Reflects on Her Time in ‘Love Rain’

Yoona, who starred in KBS 2TV’s Monday-Tuesday drama, “Love Rain”, (script by Oh Sooyeon, directed by Yoon Sukho), talked with Star News on May 30th through SM Entertainment. She said, “During ‘Love Rain’, I reflected on myself and considered it to be valuable time.”

Yoona continued, “It’s been a while since I was in a drama. ‘Love Rain’ is a drama that has allowed me to experience a lot of different emotions which I couldn’t feel before in my previous works. But above all, it was good to have time to reflect on myself once more.”

Yoona also mentioned, “I was even happier that I got to work with good actors and staff. I will try my best to grow and improve for everyone.”

She also said to the viewers, “Thank you so much to those who showed their support for ‘Love Rain’.” She told them, “Look forward to Yoona’s different image,” adding that, “She will become a more mature actress.”

The last episode of “Love Rain” aired on the May 29th, which brought a conclusion to the love story between Jang Geunsuk and Yoona’s characters, Seo Joon and Jung Hana.

Sooyoung Casted as New MC of SBS’s ‘Midnight TV Entertainment’

On May 30th, the producers of SBS’s “Midnight TV Entertainment” revealed that Girls’ Generation’s Sooyoung and Yoon Dohyun have been casted as MCs of the popular show to replace Seo Kyungsuk and Yoo Inah, who recently had their farewell episode.

A representative of the show expressed the reasons for the casting of the two MCs, revealing, “Sooyoung of Girls’ Generation has an excellent look which appeals to the public, is able to sing well, and is also good at narration. Sooyoung’s overflowing energy and charms will give a boost to ‘Midnight TV Entertainment.’” He added that after seeing Yoon Dohyun’s narration in “Law of The Jungle”, they picked him as he had confidence in speaking. Sooyoung and Yoon Dohyun will be taking over as MCs from Seo Kyungsuk, who has held the position for seven years and one month.

In addition to her new position as an MC, Sooyoung is also currently filming for a new drama, “The 3rd Hospital”, which is scheduled to begin airing in July.

Sooyoung and Yoon Dohyun will make their first appearances as MCs on June 6th.
